The University of Minnesota Ballroom Competition Team was founded in 2010. Since then we have been steadily growing and improving (ranked 1st in the nation for the past two years!), and always looking to have fun while doing so. Auditions are held in the fall and spring of each school year, and are open to collegiate dancers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Each semester the team competes in one home competition – Blast in the Fall, Dance Fest in the Spring – and one away competition. We consistently place several finalists at the newcomer, bronze, and silver levels of these events.
Practices are led by officers on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:15 pm in Multipurpose Rooms 1 and 2 of the University Rec Center. On Fridays, we practice from 6:00 to 9:00 pm with our coach Nels Petersen in Multipurpose Room 5. Our full calendar can be viewed here.
Detailed information regarding fundraising and attendance requirements, costs, and proper attire are included in the official Competition Team Packet, available here.
